Communications Coordinator/Teacher

The West Plains R-VII School District is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Communications Coordinator/Teacher. This is an immediate opening. 

 

Job qualifications and expectations: 

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum
  • Five years of communication experience preferred
  • Other qualifications as found satisfactory by the Board of Education
  • Degree in Public Education, Public Relations, Communications, or Degree with Emphasis in Digital Communications
  • Missouri teacher certification preferred or the ability to obtain relevant certification.

Reports to:  

  • Superintendent of School and/or Designee

Job Goal:  

  • To plan and conduct the District's public relations and marketing program, keeping the staff, students, and public informed of the District's programs, accomplishments, and point of view in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates the preparation of school district publications while ensuring high quality.
  • Assist the Board of Education in setting, implementing, and evaluating public relations and marketing goals.
  • Serves as a liaison between the district and the news media, produces and distributes news releases, including all print and audio/visual materials.
  • Serves as a consultation in the preparation and production of informational material prepared by school personnel.
  • Oversees the content of the district Website and Social Media accounts.
  • Serves as a source of information about the schools for individuals and groups from the community.
  • Attends all school board meetings and administrative meetings as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Assists the School Safety Coordinator(s) with developing, updating, and maintaining a bank of school safety messages that can be accessed efficiently in the event of an emergency. 
  • Willingness to work after school hours in emergencies. 
  • Assumes other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • 240-day contract (11 month position) - August 1-May 31 w/ 20 days split June/July. 
  • The 2026-2027 school year and beyond will include teaching one WPMS course and one WPHS course.
